LUPITA AMONDI NYONG’O; OUR BELOVED
NUBIAN STAR
Black history month would not feel complete without giving mention to our star rise, the blissful Hollywood empress, the most critically acclaimed academy award-winning actress, Ms. Lupita Amondi Nyong’o, who is strutting her way on to the Hollywood walk of fame, while carrying our national flag on high, thereby making us all the more proud to be Kenyan. What’s more, it is her beauty, wit, talent, grace, confidence, and artistry that had many inspired to venture into the unknown and dare to live out their dreams.
For those of you who may not have a clue as
to who this damsel is, well let me expound her identity, for your information. Lupita
Amondi Nyong’o is an academy award winning actress, with numerous movies to her
credit, a career to wish for, and fame to die for. This means that she has a golden
statue accorded to her, when she won the best supporting actress category in
the famous movie, twelves years a slave. It does not get better than bagging an
Oscar award, testifying that one has made it to the top of the mountain, and
our beautiful Lupita delightfully got us there. I mean, the kind of hard work
and dedication that goes into attaining such an achievement is absolutely
mind-blowing but when you have the dexterity and grace to pull it off like
Lupita does, then it becomes a glorious walk in the park.
Nevertheless, do not take my word for it.
Rather, do some personal research on all the projects, which this Oscar superstar
has been involved in and I bet you that Lupita is not only a gifted actress but
equally has the finesse and conviction to be on the top tier of the very best
entertainers. Granted that there are some contributing factors which have
favoured this Nubian queen to be elevated into stardom on the big screen, a
major one being that she has always been priviledged and therefore, it is not
farfetched to believe that she can be anything other than a shining star. Yet, in
her defence, I would say that Lupita has earned her stripes in order to get
into to the golden doors of Hollywood.
Despite being born with a silver spoon,
this mega actress has the ability to make impact with her skills and talents. Besides,
there are numerous people born of wealth and are of star quality, who have not
been fortunate enough to live out their Hollywood dreams. Perhaps they were not
driven enough to achieve their aspirations, and by that have their wish fulfilment
or maybe they were not purposed to walk this Hollywood path, who knows? Speaking
of which, I do believe that Lupita was meant to be an actress, an entertainer, and
Hollywood her turf.
Being of African descent is another likely determinant,
which has made the beautiful Lupita a mainstay on the silver screen. Diversity
is a major game changer in Hollywood today, whereby foreign actors are high on
demand and consequently make for a box office hit. We may conclude that with
this diversity factor, luck is on Lupita’s side but in Hollywood, you need more
than luck in order to stay relevant and busy working. Therefore, the question
is not so much about one’s race or nationality, rather it is about one’s
ability to deliver on a film project. Afterall, show business is all about making
money, and for this reason, if production companies are able to profit off your
exotic looks, then this translates as more money for them, and equally more
power to you.
The ability to showcase a star-studded
performance, is yet another element that has made Lupita Nyong’o a household
name. The valid question is, as an actor or actress, are you able to; entertain
and captivate the audience, to influence and make memorable impact; pull in the
cheese, and leave a legacy? If you made it to the Oscars, and even received a
golden statue for a reward, chances are that your performance was deemed to be starlet,
and thus worthy of honour. I do believe that Lupita is a masterful artist that
combines talent, experience, emotions, as well as craft in order to bring forth
a starling performance.
To conclude, there is no limit to Lupita’s master
craft. She has proven to the world many times that she has what it takes to be great
performer, despite her age, race, nationality, or creed. As a result, her name
will remain in the sands of time, as one of the most celebrated African women
to have left an imprint in entertainment history.
Here is to you Lupita Amondi Nyong’o; as
you progress in your power, let life be your teacher, let time be your healer, and
let God be your centre.
