AMINA MOHAMMED: THE GRACEFUL DIPLOMAT
There is nothing more beautiful and distinguished than a lady, who is educated, highly sort after, and has equally mastered the art of walking in grace and poise. Ambassador Amina Mohammed, CBS is one such a lass, who is decorated to the core, with a career both in public and foreign service that spans for decades. Amina has served in a broad spectrum of both domestic and international assignments, being very instrumental in diplomatic missions. In a word, this honourable female is a accredited diplomat. Yet, in this piece, I will not discuss Ambassador Amina’s career, for we all are privy to it and respect the work she has done in the public and foreign sectors. However, I will, instead talk of her style and grace, and why she is an inspiration to many, as we continue to celebrate people of African descent, on black history month.
I could swear that in a past life, Madam
Amina was from a royal lineage. This Somali queen moves with a delicate elegance,
as if she was a trained runway model, never behaving out of character, and
always ready for the lights, camera, and action. Amina slays all her public positions,
without missing a beat. This Kenyan is one tough contender, when it comes to
consular matters and holding down public dockets. Amina was born to play this emissary
role, with the queen moves of a boss lady. Do not think for a second that it is
easy to just land in and become a diplomat or a cabinet secretary. It requires;
a solid educational foundation, years of domestic and international work
experience, a lot of sacrificing a lot of precious time and energy, many
sleepless nights, attending back to back meetings, traveling from country to another,
jet lags, camping in hotel rooms, struggling to beat project deadlines, all
while being wife and a mother. I do not know how you juggled it all Madam
Ambassador but kudos to you, for a job well done.
These top notch job posts may look
attractive on the outside and might allure one into believing that they are an easy
manoeuvre but when paper meets pen, that is when you begin to realize just how
demanding and tasking they can be, not worth loosing sleep over. Yet Ambassador
Amina works these high level appointments with style and grace, without sweat, and
all the while maintaining her shine. We could all borrow a leaf or two from this
Somali fox, if at all we can learn to pay back the borrowed leaves.
Nevertheless, what makes Ambassador Amina a
homestay and a darling of the people? Sure, she is an African siren and perhaps
some might argue and say that her coming from a privileged background, gave her
the advantage, and a leg up in life. Nonetheless, being intelligent, wise and book
smart like she is, also played a role in her bagging top-tier jobs position. Amina
is also known to be hardworking, dedicating both time and energy into her craft,
otherwise, how would she have managed envoy missions, without having both
knowledge and wisdom?
Ambassador Amina is also known to be humble,
and I dare say introverted, an attribute that makes her appear reserved and
mysterious. Not much is known about Amina’s personal life, other than the documented
part of her general profile, as well as her years of service to the people of
Kenya. That is why she comes off as a rear gem, and not the type to overly bombard
us with her glittering and glamourous lifestyle on social media.
Amina is soft-spoken and a devoted
individual, whose service to our beloved nation is well known and much
appreciated. She has equally received immense support from her Somali community,
given that she is a Muslim, yet plays key leadership roles that are not
traditionally meant for women as such. Nonetheless, her ethnic group are proud
of her achievements, they do appreciate her skills and talents, they do consider
her to be a powerful role model to their women in particular, in turn put her
on a golden pedestal, and granted her the right to be a leader, is what I
believe.
Nowadays, Ambassador Amina Mohammed is
enjoying her free time, perhaps with her family, since the recent change of guard
in Kenya, yet I am sure that it would not be long before these international
organizations come scouting after her potential, if they have not already. It
is just a matter of time.
Here is to you Ambassador Amina Mohammed; royalty
is not a belief, neither does it come by a wish, it is a rare lineage, a unique
heritage that births alluring gems such as yourself, to immortalize beauty onto
the next millennia. Always bear in mind that you are a royal gem.
